The AFC (African Fighting Championship) World Series is set to feature a historic 100 mixed martial arts (MMA) fights in Lagos, Nigeria. The championship is scheduled to take place from September 11-14, 2025.

This event is sanctioned by the Nigerian MMA Federation (NMMAF), the National Sports Commission (NSC), the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), and the African MMA Confederation (AMMAC), signifying a major step for the growth of the sport in Nigeria and on the continent.

The AFC World Series, founded by entrepreneur Raad Aswani, is designed to be a significant platform for African MMA, aiming to create champions and position the continent as a major force in the global combat sports landscape.

Winners of the fights in Lagos will receive medals directly from government officials, underscoring the official support for the event and the initiative.

The event, which is part of the “Road to AFC” pathway, also serves as a ranking and development platform, providing a structured route for amateur fighters to transition to professional levels. Fighters are required to have a minimum of 10 amateur fights before turning professional, with strict medical and safety standards in place.
