Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has extended her warm congratulations to celebrity chef Hilda Baci on her most recent Guinness World Record achievement. The celebrated chef was officially recognized for preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, a feat that has once again brought global attention to Nigerian cuisine and resilience.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the First Lady praised Hilda Baci’s passion, creativity, and determination. “Your passion, resilience, and creativity in showcasing your craft as a celebrity chef of one of Nigeria’s most loved dishes on the global stage is inspiring,” Mrs. Tinubu said. She added that Baci’s achievement is a testament to what young Nigerian women can accomplish when they are driven by a clear purpose and hard work.

The latest record was set during the “World Jollof Festival” at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, where Baci, in partnership with a food brand, Gino, cooked a staggering 8,780 kilograms of jollof rice in a massive, specially-designed pot. This achievement, which has now been officially confirmed by Guinness World Records, follows her initial record-breaking success in 2023 for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
While Baci’s first cooking marathon record was later surpassed by another chef, her recent success with the jollof rice record has cemented her status as a global culinary icon. The event drew a massive crowd of supporters, celebrities, and food enthusiasts, transforming the venue into a carnival-like atmosphere and further highlighting Nigeria’s vibrant culture and culinary heritage.
