The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced a major drug bust, destroying over 75,544 kilograms of skunk in a series of coordinated operations across four states: Edo, Delta, Ondo, and Taraba.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Mr. Femi Babafemi, the operations were part of the agency’s ongoing “War Against Drug Abuse” (WADA) campaign.

Babafemi stated the amount of skunk destroyed as follows;

Delta State: NDLEA operatives, with the support of the military, destroyed a total of 25,500kg of skunk from four plantations measuring 10.2 hectares in the Emu-Obiogu community of Ndokwa West Local Government Area.

Ondo State: In the Uso area of the state, 25,025kg of the same substance was destroyed on three farms that collectively measured 10.01 hectares.

Edo State: A total of 14,233.37kg of skunk was destroyed on four plantations spanning 5.69 hectares in the Ebule forest of Owan West Local Government Area. Additionally, 901kg of skunk was recovered from a warehouse in Uzebba, where a 54-year-old female suspect was arrested.

Taraba State: In collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), NDLEA operatives destroyed 7,500kg of skunk on a three-hectare farmland in Dadin-Kowa village, Bali Local Government Area.

In addition to the destruction of these plantations, the NDLEA also conducted other raids across the country, leading to further arrests and seizures of various illicit substances, including pentazocine and other packaged drugs. These operations underscore the agency’s renewed commitment to dismantling drug cartels and disrupting the supply chain of illegal substances in Nigeria.
