The Ebonyi State Government, through its Widows’ Housing Project, has begun handing over three-bedroom bungalows to widows in the state.

The initiative, led by the governor’s wife, Uzoamaka Nwifuru, is part of her foundation’s efforts to provide shelter and dignity to vulnerable women.

The project aims to build 26 new homes, with two bungalows designated for each of the state’s 13 Local Government Areas. The first phase of the inauguration has already seen keys handed over to two widows who had been living in difficult conditions.

One beneficiary, Mrs. Josephine Ekoyo, who had lived in a shanty for years, expressed her gratitude to the government for the life-changing intervention. The new homes are part of a broader vision to restore hope and security to widows, aligning with the current administration’s “People’s Charter of Needs” policy.

Ogbuinya, also a new home owner who could not hide her joy, thanked the governor’s wife for championing and rebuilding the lives of vulnerable women in the state.
